Learn on this page how we at Texas Hookers Big Game Tackle Rig our Leaders.
These are just tips on how we have had the best luck rig them any way you like.
Balloon Rig ![]() This is one of our favorites when Targeting Black tips/Spinner sharks and Tarpon. With the coast lock clip built on the leader it allows you to attach a balloon of your choice by simply clipping it on. Next attach the bait of your choice we like whole shad or stingrays. Then we just drift it out behind the boat or from a pier a good distance then wait for the acrobats to start leaping out of the water. | Pier type/Surf Rig ![]() This is by far the most popular rig used along the Texas Gulf Coast. It is great for the pier fisherman or from the sand built just for Jack fish,Sharks,Bullreds,Black drum and anything in the surf. It is great because it has a swivel clip attached to it so you can attach the weight of choice we like spider weights when on the beach and pyramids from the boat. works well with any bait of choice. |
Drift Rig ![]() The Drift Leader is a rig we came up with a couple of years ago when Tarpon fishing. We also love this leader for ling and Sharks. It is a Great finesse rig and very simple to use but best when behind a boat simply attach bait of choice and drift it behind the boat. Pretty self explanatory. | 1.50 ounce Rig ![]() The 1.50 ounce pre weighted rig is great for everything. This is our Favorite rig for fishing with stingrays. It has just enough weight to get a chunk of ray or other big baits under the surface of the water but without going to the bottom. Simply attach bait of choice like all the other rigs and drift it out as well. |
